Welcome Welcome Welcome! *hug* This is my little place on the internet.
My name is Lori and I am an award-winning, completely self-taught photographer and digital artist. I have about 11 years of photo editing experience and many more in graphic arts...if you also count Preschool paste, safety scissors, and big fat crayons. I have taken photos off and on for well over 20 years. I started with a Kodak Instamatic my mom gave to me when I was just a kid. Using my printed photos, markers and some construction paper I was able to create my own masterpieces to place on the fridge and adorn my bedroom walls. That seems so primitive in this day and age! Today, I use my trusty, beloved Fuji Finepix s5700 digital camera with a simple polarizer filter, my computer and software and sometimes even borrow my husbands digital tablet. How the times have changed, but my passion for giving life to my ideas and seeing the world around me in different ways is still as strong as ever.
I find beauty in just about everything! A fallen leaf, a stunning sunset, the way the light and shadows play across gravestones, or my children playing outside in the snow. I don't have a favorite subject in photography and my style is simple, but eclectic. Changing with my moods and whatever happens to catch my eye on any given day. The inspirationfor my digital art comes from so many places! It might come from a phrase in a song, something in a conversation spoken or overheard, or part of what I see around me.
Of course my work is not limited to just photos and digital art. I also love making things that I come up with on a whim.It can be custom clothing, bead and wire wrapped vases, whimsical jewelry, and even a wild idea for a new recipe. I am fortunate to have a vivid and fertile imagination. There is never a dull moment in my head!
My artwork is just me...thinking out loud.
I hope you enjoy viewing my work as much as I enjoy creating it!
Big huge deal! A new shop is opening very soon in BoDo called the RE Boutique, located at 405 S. 8th St., Suite 109. It features artwork made by local artist here in Idaho and highlights those who work with recycled, reused, and repurposed materials. The shop focuses on clothing and furniture, but will also offer the artwork of local artists...like me! It is owned by a successful and talented woman, Mckinsey McCorkel-Swain. She has her own line of natural bath and beauty products called PenelopeParsnip.
My digital art will be for sale at RE Boutique! Frames, mats, and special artistic touches you will go nuts over! As opening day gets closer, I will be sure and post more information and a link to the shops website.
